Modern slavery statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Golden Meadows Limited
1. Introduction
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Golden Meadows Limited has taken during the financial year ended 31 December 2025 to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chains.
Golden Meadows Limited is committed to conducting its business responsibly, ethically and in compliance with all applicable laws, and to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our operations or supply chains.
2. Our business and supply chains
Golden Meadows Limited is a UK‑based food manufacturing and distribution business operating primarily in the ambient foods sector. Our core activities include product sourcing, packaging, logistics, sales and distribution to major UK retailers and foodservice customers.
Our supply chains include:
-
Overseas manufacturers and ingredient suppliers (including suppliers based in Asia and Europe)
-
Packaging suppliers
-
Logistics and freight forwarders
-
UK‑based service providers and contractors
These supply chains are assessed as presenting varying levels of modern slavery risk, particularly where overseas manufacture, labour‑intensive processes or third‑party recruitment may be involved.
3. Policies and governance
We have adopted a zero‑tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking and operate a framework of policies and controls, including:
-
A Supplier Code of Conduct covering labour standards, human rights and ethical trading
-
Supplier approval and ongoing monitoring processes
-
Employment policies that comply with UK employment law and protect workers’ rights
-
Whistleblowing and grievance procedures available to employees
Our policies require suppliers to comply with all applicable labour laws and to prohibit forced labour, child labour, servitude and human trafficking.
4. Due diligence in our supply chains
We assess and manage modern slavery risk through proportionate due diligence, including:
-
Supplier onboarding questionnaires and declarations
-
Risk‑based supplier reviews and approvals
-
Requiring key suppliers to confirm compliance with modern slavery legislation
-
Follow‑up actions where concerns or gaps are identified
Where appropriate, we expect suppliers to cascade equivalent standards to their own supply chains.
5. Risk assessment and management
We recognise that modern slavery risks are higher in certain geographies and sectors. Our risk assessment considers factors such as:
-
Country of origin
-
Nature of labour used in production
-
Use of subcontracting or labour agencies
-
Supplier transparency and governance
Where heightened risks are identified, we seek enhanced assurances, additional information or corrective actions from suppliers.
6. Training and awareness
Relevant employees receive training and guidance to help them:
-
Understand what modern slavery and human trafficking are
-
Identify potential warning signs
-
Know how to escalate concerns appropriately
This supports our ongoing commitment to maintaining a responsible and ethical business culture.
7. Effectiveness
We continue to review and strengthen our approach to modern slavery by:
-
Monitoring supplier compliance
-
Reviewing policies and procedures
-
Incorporating modern slavery considerations into procurement decisions
We are committed to continuous improvement and to working collaboratively with suppliers and customers to uphold high ethical standards.
8. Approval
This statement has been approved by the Board of Directors of Golden Meadows Limited and is signed on its behalf.
